Oil Fish

Oil fish is found in tropical and temperate waters worldwide and is primarily obtained as bycatch from tuna fisheries.

This species is a deep-water shark belonging to the Echinorhinidae family, characterized by a purplish-gray to brown coloration, a lighter ventral surface, and a short snout. Maximum observed lengths reach approximately 310 cm.

With a distinctive flavor and firm texture, oil fish is rich in iron, zinc, potassium, and phosphorus and is highly valued in Japanese cuisine.
