Octopus

The octopus is a sea animal with eight strong tentacles fitted with suckers, all around its mouth. As other cephalopods, the octopus has a soft body with no internal or external skeleton.

It can be found in the Northeast Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea, the Iberian Peninsula and in the Madeira and Açores Archipelago, where in inhabits coastal waters up to 200m in depth.

As most seafood, it is rich in Omega 3, which is very important to the cardiovascular system. It prevents fatty plaques from forming in arteries and it also prevents hypertension, strokes and heart attacks. Since it is low in calories, the octopus is considered a lean and very nutritious meat.
