A freshwater breeding fish belonging to the Pangasius genus, from the Pangasiidae family, Siluriformes order. Common is Southeast Asia, especially in Thailand and Vietnam, the Basa Catfish or Panga as it is known in Brazil shows a white meat, soft flavor, firm texture and no bones.
Largely consumed in European, American and Russian cuisine, it is very versatile and can be used in varied preparations, whether grilled, fried, roasted or as soup.
From the so-called white fish family, the Panga is recommended for its high biological value proteins, minerals and vitamins D, A, and B1.
