As part of the so-called “fatty” fish family, the sardine comprises a full, high-quality lipid-rich food, in addition to Omega 3 proteins, and has nine essential fatty acids that are not produced by the human body. The sardine is fished from the seashores of Portugal to Morocco and this species is know in Brazil as Sardinha Portuguesa and valued by its smooth taste and excellent size for ember- or oven-roasting.
